Online classes offered at 91 require students to complete at least one assignment in a proctored environment. Online students must complete their proctored testing exam in person at an approved testing location. These proctored exam appointments ensure that the student’s identity has been verified and that students have adhered to the Code of Conduct Policy while testing.
MSVCC testing labs are located at each community college in Mississippi. Students can schedule appointments at any community college free of charge through the proctoring section of their course.
Students who need to take proctored exams outside of the State of Mississippi can choose from the pre-approved testing locations in SmarterProctoring. There may be additional fees associated with utilizing these locations. Students are responsible for all fees associated with non-MSVCC proctoring locations.
If the student needs to secure an in-person proctoring site that is not listed online under other locations, the student will need to complete an Application for an Off-Campus Test Proctor. This form should be completed at least two weeks before the intended exam appointment.
The student should fill out the upper section of the form, and the out-of-state testing center should supply information for the lower half of the form. Faculty/staff ID or statement of affiliation on organizational letterhead by an organization officer must be submitted with the form. The form should be emailed to eLearning at online@jcjc.edu.
Beginning August 2026, all virtual proctoring appointments require pre-approval from the eLearning department. Students who have a documented need for virtual proctoring must submit an application and include supporting documentation no later than two weeks prior to the exam testing window. Documented reasons include medical condition, military obligation, work-related travel, out-of-state-student, and jury duty or legal proceedings. The eLearning department will communicate with the student regarding the approval or denial of requests. It is highly recommended that students review the before scheduling an appointment.
Review the Scheduling Proctored Exam Student Guide for a step-by-step guide on scheduling an appointment. MSVCC approved proctoring labs are available at all 15 community/junior colleges in Mississippi at no charge to students enrolled in MSVCC courses. Proctored exams scheduled at approved testing centers outside of the MSVCC participating schools may charge a proctoring fee for their service. Students will need to contact that location directly for information on proctoring fees. These fees cannot be paid using financial aid, scholarships, or tuition.
SmarterServices live online proctoring is an optional service available to students who are approved to take their tests remotely instead of at an approved MSVCC testing location. Students are responsible for the proctoring fees associated with using the SmarterServices live online proctoring service. Fees associated with this service are based on the length of the exam appointment. Payment is due when the appointment is scheduled. These fees cannot be paid using financial aid, scholarships, or tuition.
