Both traditional and online classes deliver the same course content, yet they differ in structure and learning environment. Online courses offer significant flexibility, making them well suited for individuals managing busy schedules or multiple responsibilities. This format, however, demands a greater level of self-motivation, effective time management, and the ability to work independently. Weigh the pros and cons of an online versus a more structured, traditional class setting. Ultimately, choosing between the two formats depends on a student’s learning preferences, level of self-discipline, and personal commitments.
Log in:
In order to access your courses, you will need to login to your account. Once you are logged in, select the Canvas icon. You will automatically be logged in to Canvas, and you will see your courses on the Canvas Dashboard. Classes are available in Canvas on the first scheduled day of the session you are registered for.
Attendance:
Attendance is based on assignment deadlines. Review the syllabus for each course you are enrolled in to determine the amount of absences allowable for each course.
Communication:
Communicate with online instructors through the Canvas inbox located inside of Canvas in the navigation pane or by messaging through the Jones email system. Exams:
Quizzes and exams are taken online, with the exception of 1 - 3 proctored exams per course that are required to be taken in a proctored testing lab.
